Maarten Metzelaar is 22 years old, a legal green card resident and a part time college student. He has a non violent felony on his criminal record and unfortunately it’s on the list of applicable felonies for deportation. He was detained by ICE on Thursday, October 4th 2018 and is being held at a county jail until he meets with a judge. He received his felony shortly after turning 18, served the required time in jail, never missed a probation or court meeting, paid off all his fees that were related, and completed community through church and public works. He hung out with the wrong people and is not a criminal. It’s been years since this has happened and in those years he’s graduated from high school, worked at many jobs, began his college career and became apart of a very talented band called Whüzy.
