Beth's Fight Fund

Donation protected
On December 6, 2012, Beth Nelson, a wife and wonderful mother of twin eight year old boys was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Follicular Lymphoma. She and her family have bravely fought this disease for over a year through 9 different chemo therapy cocktails and multiple hospitalizations including 5 days in a coma. Four different times in this year she was told she was within 2 hours to 3 weeks of death. With all of this fighting and emotional turmoil she has never lost her faith or spirit. Her determination and love for her family as well as God's grace has brought her through to remission. However, she has been told her disease is so aggressive it will return again in mere weeks as previously happened, unless she undergoes a stem cell transplant. All is ready, even a perfect ten out of ten earmark matched donor. Her treatments will take place in the North Carolina Cancer Center in Chapel Hill, NC. As always there is a financial burden and cost to all such fights. This year has taken its toll on her family both emotionally and financially. Her husband Randy has not been able to continually work as he was her caregiver, transportation, and both Mom and Dad to Jacob and Garrett. Prior to and during these treatments Jacob has been undergoing his own medical problems as well. He was diagnosed at age 5 with a 54 degree curvature of the spine requiring rods to be placed in his back to start correcting the curve; continuing with surgeries every 6 months to lengthen these rods. This has impacted them as the last surgery overlapped Beth's pre-transplant visits to Chapel Hill while he was in Durham, NC at Duke Children's Center. This is a medical and financial juggling act to say the least.

Now the time has come that they must ask for help with the mounting expenses. More than the transplant itself they will need help keeping up with the everyday expenses of their home and for her expenses in Chapel Hill while she is away for the required 100 days of the transplant procedure. She has not been able to qualify for Social Security Disability Benefits because she did not have enough credits over the last 10 years as she was able to raise her children at home for their first 5 years. Please take a few moments to make a donation to Beth and her family. Show Beth that you are in this fight with her. After all, it is not just her fight, it is the human fight against cancer. Even if you are not able to help financially, if you could offer your prayers up to God. With your help, prayers and God's grace they can come through this stronger.
