Hello, my name is Deborah Kirkland and I live in Louisiana. My niece, Lisa Marie, is a single parent and lives in Benton, Kentucky, and is about to begin a 2nd round of grueling cancer treatment. She was just days before 5 years in remission when a new cancer showed up. She originally started with pain in her left breast on February 26, 2019, had breast surgery on March 4, 2019, and was diagnosed with Ductal Carcinoma HER2 negative, ER & PR positive stage 2. Chemo began on March 29, 2019, and then a lumpectomy on September 6, 2019. Radiation started on October 14, 2019, with the last radiation treatment on December 5, 2019, with ringing of the bell as a survivor who beat breast cancer. No evidence of disease - Cancer Free!
Fast forward almost 5 years - September 21, 2024, she noticed a neck mass. Mammogram and CT scan with contrast were done on September 23, 2024. On September 30, 2024, a fine needle aspiration of the neck mass was done, and on October 9, 2024, she was referred to a head and neck cancer specialist at Sarah Cannon Cancer Center in Nashville. October 24, 2024, involved surgery to remove the neck mass, and the mass tested positive for metastatic cancer. On November 8, 2024, a PET scan of the base of the skull to mid-thigh revealed four masses found in total, and on November 29, 2024, a CT with contrast of the brain was found clear. Oncology referral back to the original 2019 lumpectomy surgeon. On December 3, 2024, surgery to remove underarm masses, and all tissue tested positive for cancer but as a totally different form of cancer: Triple negative metastatic breast cancer, stage 4. On December 26, 2024, surgery to put a port back in for radiation beginning on January 6, 2025, Monday thru Friday for 6 weeks and additional 5-hour infusion of chemo every Friday for 6 weeks.
As you can imagine, this has been extremely costly and depleted Lisa of all funds, making her life unbelievably difficult. Costs for cancer treatment are astronomical, and we are reaching out to the public in hopes of financial help with her medical costs. Your thoughtful prayers and any additional assistance are greatly appreciated.
With much hope, we reach out to whoever can assist in any way possible.
