We are safe, our hearts are grateful—but our home was lost to a fire.
Last Wednesday, our lives changed in an instant when a fire broke out in our apartment. I wasn’t home at the time—my daughter, Laila, was there with her dad. When it became clear how serious the situation was, they called 911 and evacuated as quickly as they could, taking only a few essential items and leaving everything else behind, including our cats.
When I arrived, the fire had been stopped. By the grace of God, everyone was safe—and I found our cats alive. However, the damage to our home is devastating. Our belongings are still inside, bagged after smoke cleanup. The bedrooms have holes in the walls, furniture is broken, and so much of what we built has been disrupted.
We are incredibly thankful to have temporary housing for me and Laila until March and our cats have a safe space till we can reunite. I am now searching for a new home for Laila and me while facing overwhelming, unexpected expenses. My greatest focus is keeping life as normal and stable as possible for her during this difficult time.
We are staying hopeful, strong, and ready to rebuild—but we need help to move forward. Any donation, no matter the amount, is deeply appreciated. Thank you for your kindness, prayers, and support as we begin again.
