Love for Leslie & Lillian Mae Bridal

When you walk through the doors of Lillian Mae Bridal here in Austin, TX you feel a sense of comfort and love. You're greeted with a warm smile by Leslie Dittfurth, the owner of this cozy and sweet shop. For the past four years Leslie has worked tirelessly to build this small business - with the inspiration being a bridal shop that is inclusive of all women, of all shapes, sizes, and budgets. Not only is Leslie the owner, but she is also the head seamstress. Leslie works her magic with needle and thread insuring every bride's dress fits like a glove.
In December of 2019 Leslie was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma IV brain tumor after an episode that occurred while visiting her son in Oklahoma. In January 14, 2020 she had brain surgery and thanks to a great surgeon (Dr. Kemper) 95% of the tumor was removed with no neurological deficits. She returned to work only 2 weeks later - her work is truly her happy place.
January 28th, 2020, (two weeks after her surgery) her house caught on fire! 9 months later the house is still under construction due to Covid 19 causing delays with the fire marshal investigation and other inspections.
She had radiation and chemotherapy in Austin in Feb. and March (thanks to Dr Fisher and Dr. Thatakonda). Leslie is currently enrolled in a trial chemotherapy at MD Anderson 3 hours away in Houston, TX. All this while continuing to work 10 hour days when not in treatment.
With COVID hitting in March, Lillian Mae Bridal took a large hit, like many small businesses. With mounting medical and business bills and the emotional, mental, and physical strain of chemotherapy Leslie could use a little support to ease the financial burden.
The last few scans shows the tumor is "stable". This is really good news for an aggressive tumor. She is already beaten the odds.
These funds will be used to:
-to ensure her current customers get the best care,
-hire more help so Leslie doesn't have to come in on those "bad days",
-to get caught up on the store's rent and utilities,
-to pay for lodging and food when in Houston,
-to pay for medical bills insurance is not covering.
We understand many of you were also hit by COVID 19 as well so if you can't help financially, a kind word will be much appreciated.
We deeply appreciate your kind words, love, and financial support as you help lift up a member of the Austin community who has a passion for what she does and has brought joy to so many.
This was created by Brianna Hartke - long time beloved employee and her sons Russell Solis and Ross Solis and their families.
All funds will be considered a gift to be used only by Leslie Dittfurth
