Our dear friends Maya and Kyle are facing an unthinkable challenge — their 3-year-old daughter, Ruby, has been diagnosed with Medulloblastoma. As she begins an intense journey of treatment and healing, we’re reaching out for your support to help ease the financial burden, allowing them to focus entirely on what matters most: Ruby’s recovery.

Ruby is the identical twin sister of Beatrix — the two are inseparable and share a bond that fills every room with laughter. Ruby is an adventurous, curious girl who loves exploring the world around her and finding joy in the smallest moments.

On October 22nd, after much discomfort and multiple trips to the doctor and urgent care, Maya and Kyle received the devastating news no parent ever wants to hear: their daughter had a brain tumor. Ruby was medevacked to Boston Children’s Hospital, and the next day the team performed a more than 11 hour craniotomy procedure and miraculously, her incredible surgical team was able to remove the entire tumor.

Less than a week later Ruby was discharged and has been at home recovering. The family has been soaking up their time together and building the strength needed to face the even greater challenges ahead.

Medulloblastoma is an aggressive, high-grade brain tumor that originates in the cerebellum. Ruby’s first cycle of inpatient chemotherapy begins this week — marking the start of a long 6–8 month treatment plan. The first three cycles at Hasbro Children’s Hospital and final three cycles at Boston Children’s Hospital. Because Ruby is so young, this process will come with many difficult side effects and potential unexpected complications.

Funds raised will go directly toward specialized medical treatments, travel expenses, day-to-day living costs, and a possible move to Boston so the family can stay together during Ruby’s most challenging times.

Maya and Kyle have always dedicated themselves to their family and friends. They are two people who have built a community around them through positivity, empathy, and their magnetic spirit.
