Let’s Help Paul
Donation protected
This is something I never thought I would have to write, and I truly hope I never have to again. However, if there is one thing I know, it’s that we have an amazing community that always comes together in times of need.
Many of us know Paul Martin—and if you don’t, chances are you’ve heard of him, seen one of his Facebook posts, or been lucky enough to have him serve you at Boston Pizza. Paul is the kind of person who brightens a room, always is ready with a joke, a smile, and a kind word.
In early February, Paul received devastating news—he has cancer. While I won’t go into the details, his treatment plan includes 33 rounds of aggressive radiation and chemotherapy within 7 weeks in Calgary. As if battling cancer is not enough, he now faces the overwhelming stress of how to afford travel, lodging, rent, bills, and basic necessities while being unable to work.
Last year, Paul took a leap of faith and started his own business, Sandwich Stop. In addition, if you’ve ever had one of his sandwiches, you know they were made with pride. But Paul’s generosity goes beyond his food—every day, he would give a free lunch to someone he felt deserved a break. He also started posting daily quotes on his Sandwich Stop Facebook page, always beginning with the words: “If this helps one person, then it is worth the read.” That sentence alone speaks volumes about who he is.
Now, it’s our turn to help Paul. Any support—whether a donation to ease his financial burden, a kind message, or simply sharing this with others, would mean the world. Let’s remind him that he’s not alone in this fight and that his community is standing right beside him.
When Paul beats this, puts on his beloved Montreal Canadians jersey, and gets back to his daily grind, he’ll surely try to repay us all with one of his classic jokes—the ones that make him laugh harder than anyone else.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Please send him all your positive thoughts, prayers, and support. Let’s show Paul just how many people are in his corner. ❤️
