Spinal Surgery For Miriam Duff

Donation protected
Hey Friends! My beautiful 13 year old niece, Miriam, will be undergoing spinal surgery in a few weeks due to a severe case of scoliosis. Her parents, Sharon and Brandon Duff,  just found out the severity of her case not long ago and have not had anytime to plan or prepare for this financially. Because her scoliosis is so severe, the doctors want to do the surgery now before things get any worse. This is a very expensive surgery and although her parents do have insurance, there will still be a high cost they have to pay as well as the week long stay up in St. Louis while she recovers. My sister will also need to stay home with her during her 4 to 6 week (minimum) recovery at home. So she will not be able to work and bring in any income at all during that time. If you are able to help, please do. Any little bit would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you friends!

UPDATE
I'm adding what my sister posted on her page today to give you more of their story..........

Last night I was telling Suzanne about our financial concerns regarding Miriam's upcoming Spinal Fusion surgery.  Suzanne asked to start a GoFundMe page for us (and we agreed), so I thought I would tell you a little more of our story.

Many of you know that I have not been well enough to work for several years due to pain from small fiber peripheral neuropathy, a visual midline shift that affects my balance, migraine, gastrointestinal, and spine issues. I am also needing to have surgery for pelvic prolapse issues, but that will have to wait. We've acquired a lot of medical bills trying to diagnose and treat my crazy and debilitating symptoms.

Finances have been quite challenging but Brandon, my amazing husband, has been teaching AND driving a bus to help make ends meet the last few years. And just recently, on days I'm well enough, I have been able to sub at the high school and tech center; definitely a praise!

As my sister mentioned in the GoFundMe post, Miriam has scoliosis that has recently gone from mild to severe in a matter of months.  Because of this she was referred to St Louis Children's Hospital.  The doctors are recommending Miriam undergo spinal fusion surgery asap in order to acheive the best possible outcome.  Miriam will be undergoing multiple MRIs, CT scans, and labs over the next couple weeks in preparation for the surgery. Then on November 30th will be having the spinal fusion surgery. She will be in the hospital for about a week and out of school for 4-6 weeks after.

Having this page set up for us, and seeing people willing to support and help us out, is a very humbling experience. Over the last four years God has proven his faithfulness time and time again; and we have faith that he will provide what we truly need.  Thank you for being a part of God's big story in our lives!
