Amy’s story: On 10/12/2020 Amy went to the ER after experiencing severe back pain for a couple of weeks. She thought it would be something as simple as a pulled or torn muscle, but unfortunately the scans revealed that she had many lytic lesions on her bones. She knew this couldn’t be good news. She was contacted the following morning by her oncologist and was brought in for a PET scan that confirmed her worst nightmare, at 42 her breast cancer from 8 years prior had returned and metastasized to her bones and nearby lymph nodes, despite her aggressive treatments and double mastectomy with her initial diagnosis in 2012, leaving her with the current diagnosis that will have her fighting for the rest of her life: Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer.
Amy is in need of funds to help her with costs of obtaining private insurance, which she lost after being out of work due to Covid. Also, let’s help her provide a Christmas to remember for her children. By doing this Amy’s financial burdens will be lifted and allow her to concentrate on precious time with them.
Donations will be used for obtaining private insurance, groceries, supplements, gas to and from doctors’ visits and a Christmas to remember. As most of you know, Amy is a single mom to Kaleb, 15, and Makena, 12. That in itself is a feat, let alone trying to provide for them during a pandemic, and without a job she can return to in her condition. She cannot obtain credentials needed from the DOT to return with her diagnosis. Her job is physically demanding as motorcoach operator and with her spine in the condition it is in doctors are highly recommending against it.
She will be traveling to and from Tampa with an hour commute each way for treatments and appointments at Moffitt once she can obtain private insurance. Getting a private insurance plan is the best option she has for attaining the care she needs and deserves. She has tried and tried again, unsuccessfully, to obtain an out of network referral from her primary doctor. They have not made this cheap or easy for her. She will have a lot of money to come up with to initiate the plan as well as her monthly payments once established. Let’s help alleviate all the worries and stress for her by gifting her not only money but peace of mind.
Your help is more than appreciated. If you cannot afford to donate, please keep Amy in your prayers, check in on her, share this page, if you live close by make or order her family dinner. It all helps. God is good and I know he won’t fail my best friend! He knows how needed she is! God bless you for any contribution you make in helping her.
