I know its been a while since I have put out any updates. This month marks two years since Emily's initial diagnosis. It has been a roller coaster ride to say the least. With the donations we recieved we were able to go on a great family trip to Disney and to the keys. We were able to implant some memories that will last for a life time. The kids and I will never forget those trips. Thank you all!
For 18 months Emily was being treated with various types of chemotherapy; and it worked for awhile. Then about 6 months ago we ran out of options for FDA approved treatment. Her cancer has progressed rapidly. We have been racing against time and traveling the U.S. searching for clinical trials. We were denied entry to more than a few and we were close to calling it quits when we found an excellent oppurtunity at Duke University in North Carolina. Emily had to go through many labs and tests in order to get accepted into the trial. Im thrilled to say that we finally got acceted into a program and we start on August 5th.
With the help of our insurance, family, and the Army, we have been able to fund almost all of the treatment costs. My co-orkers and my chain of command have been incredibly supportive, however, the costs of travel and daycare for the kids while we are way for a few days out of the week is starting to get a bit overwhelming. This is a trip we have to make every other week so the expenses are making this situation even more difficult. All of you who know me, also knows that my pride never allows me to ask for help. I get constant phone calls and texts from everyone asking what they can do to help. I always decline the offer with appreciation. Now, and not without diffuculty, I have to ask. We need a hand. Truthfully, we dont need much, just some small donations to help keep us going as long as we can. Thanks again everyone. Your support is incredible.
Feel free to text or email me for those of you who have my contanct info. There are no questions that I wont answer. Fair warning, times are really tough and it sometimes takes me awhile to respond, pelase dont take it personally! I will always get back to you when I have the chance. Emily isnt usually physically able to return texts as these last few weeks have not been good to her, but we are hoping this treatment turns things around once again so please feel free to text her becuase she still reads them. She likes to know that people are thinking and praying for her. Thanks again.
(Below is the initial post that my sister put up two years ago in case anyone didnt see it then. Thanks again everyone)
David Lynn
Emily is a strong and generous mother of three kids Dj (10), Jason (9) and Emma (6). Emily dedicates her life to raising her family while her husband of 9 years continues to serve his country, in the US Army. "Sergeant First Class David Lynn" completed four deployments overseas to Iraq and Afghanistan seeing and participating in events most of us could not even imagine.
Two weeks ago Emily and David walked into the hospital because she had stomach pains and hours later walked out with what turns out to be stage four colon cancer in multiple organs including liver and lungs.
We are raising money to help the Lynn's get through these devastating times as they have dedicated their lives as a family to this country and all Americans. Now is a good time for us to show our appreciation by giving and supporting our soldiers and their family at their time of need.
Please help this family by contributing to this fund as they truly deserve our support. They have mountains to climb and we want to try to help in any way possible as Emily is the sole caretaker of their children when David is away and she will need help fighting for a cure.
The Lynn family is heartbroken over the recent changes. They are in the process of moving and relocating to the state of Virginia so Emily can be closer to her parents as her mother also battles cancer and David is still active full time in the Army. The kids are in the process of changing schools and settling into their new changes in life.
