Many of you know Max and his mama Rachel. Max is a 6 year old miniature dachshund and the goodest boy there ever was. Max brings joy to anyone who meets him and has helped many a stressed PA student through ‘ruff’ times.

On 11/20/2023 Max woke up and could not move his back legs. He was brought to the emergency vet where extensive imaging revealed a ruptured disc. Max required emergency surgery to remove calcified bone fragments and hopefully restore his ability to walk.

Thankfully Max made it through surgery. However, he has been diagnosed with intervertebral disc disease (IVDD) and will require intensive physical therapy if he is to walk again. His vet bills so far have amounted to over $8000. This does not include the cost of the upcoming PT he will need to regain any functionality of his legs.
