Kennys Journey

Hi, My name is Caitlin MacLellan and I am starting this fundraiser for my dearest, closest family friends Kenny MacAskill.

Earlier this month Kenny underwent some investigations following a change in his health status that led him to seek medical attention.

After a chest xray and a CAT scan it was discovered that Kenny has a mass on his lung with other notable areas of concern on his liver,and kidney. During this last month Kenny and his partner Cindy have been making many trips to Strait Richmond, Guysborough, and Antigonish to see his doctor and also have tests completed to determine the extent of his illness.

This is only the beginning of spending lots of time on the road, because in the upcoming weeks he will require a biopsy of his lung, which will be preformed in Halifax,

meetings with other health care specialists, and more medical testing for investigations, these appts may take place in either Antigonish, Sydney or Halifax but are

necessary in determining Kennys full diagnosis and course of action for treatment.

Kenny lives in Port Hawkesbury with his partner Cindy but spends a majoirty of of his time working at sea, which he has done for as long as I can remember.

Now with these recent discoveries Kenny will have to step away from working to manage his health and begin his long journey. Having to step away from work will bring alot of finanical worry in an already stressful situation. Kenny is the main source of income in their household and he will need Cindy by his side as his main support, through this difficult time. Anyone who knows Kenny knows hes always been a hardworker at sea, and on land during his

time off. Always keeping himself busy with something and always keeping himself financially stable. So these health changes will not only be finaincally difficult but emotionally,mentally, and physically stressful.

Sadly Kenny and Cindy know all to well about the journey they’re about to start, as they both were a main support system for me and my mom Tina, who just recently passed in September. I’ve known Kenny my entire 35 years of life and writing this has not been easy, but the love, appreciation and gratitude I have for them is immeasurable in words. I want to help return the support anyone I can, and the first step is by starting this fundraiser for them to relieve some of their financial worries.

Im seeking out any donations, big or small, anything helps! These donations will help with medical and travel costs for Kenny and Cindy, that will require them to travel out of town to Halifax, Antigonish, and Sydney. As I said prior they are in the beginning stages of Kenny's Diagnosis so there hasnt been a set treatment plan yet, but I will provide updates as I recieve them on this page.
