Help Maya Walk Again!
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your help. Our sweet 4-year-old husky, Maya, had a terrible accident tonight. She got out around 7:00 PM on 10/30, and when she came back, she was limping, severely injured. After rushing her to the emergency vet, we learned that her injuries are far worse than we imagined.
Maya has multiple injuries to her legs, especially on her right side, with extensive ligament and tissue damage that’s left her unable to use her leg at all. She also has injuries to her jaw, including a broken canine tooth (and possibly more that we’re waiting on further examination to confirm).
We’ve already had to cover immediate medical expenses, which totaled around $6,000 to $7,000, just to stabilize her and begin initial treatments. We had to take out a loan to cover these costs, but unfortunately, this is only the beginning. The vet has informed us that, based on Maya’s current condition, she’ll likely need to stay 24-48 hours for more comprehensive diagnostics, including X-rays and MRIs, so they can better assess the full extent of her injuries which includes another $1,000-$2,000.
The hardest news so far is that her right leg may require amputation to relieve her pain and prevent further complications. If that’s the case, the surgery alone was estimated to start at $8,000, with costs potentially going higher depending on her condition.
We love Maya deeply and want to do everything we can to help her heal and give her the best quality of life possible. We’re doing all we can financially, but we simply cannot manage this burden on our own. Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly to Maya’s medical care and help us ensure she gets the treatment she needs.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story. Maya means the world to us, and with your help, we hope she’ll be able to get back on her feet—no matter what challenges lie ahead.
