Hi,
My name is Kimbra Hall, and Amanda Khiri is one of my very best friends and has been for over 10 years. We met in Los Angeles and have seen each other through cross country moves, career changes, breakups, makeups, or what most people just call "their 20s".
In addition to just simply being one of the funniest people I know, she is also a wonderful singer. She brings joy and laughter to people whenever she gets up on that stage, her love of life infuses everyone around her with the same energy. She's also pretty brave. She decided to follow her dream all the way to New York, even though she had never even visited. That was over 10 years ago and though many have come and gone since, she's stuck it out despite the lean times. Her dream has no safety net, no sick days, no vacation time.
Over the past year, Amanda, a woman who used to be full of energy has been sick and tired, more often than not. She's been weak, in pain and just basically, not herself. After a stint in the hospital last fall, a couple of blood transfusions, and many visits to many doctors, it was decided that the best course of action would be a hysterectomy. It was a big decision for her, but in typical Amanda fashion, she has managed to find the humor in it, along with a corresponding Golden Girls episode. Because, you know, AMANDA.
Amanda is covered for the surgery but not for the 4-6 weeks recovery time, during which she will be mostly bedridden and in need of financial help for rent, utilities, food, etc.
Anything we can spare for our friend will be appreciated, and you know she will be there for you as well, most likely with a song!
