Some of you may know her and some may not, but my friend and former next-door-neighbor from Atlanta, Kim Smith, has recently been hit with some very difficult medical complications. After having a couple of suspicious bone breaks and a diagnosis of severe osteoporosis, she began undergoing testing and treatment for possible Multiple Myeloma (a cancer in the bone marrow affecting plasma). While this was still being considered, she found out she has stage 4 breast cancer (metastatic invasive ductal carcinoma) which has already spread to her lymph nodes. She has 2 different types tumors and cancers. To top this off, she has also learned she needs follow up for possible diabetes. She has begun chemotherapy today, but this is going to be a long, exhausting journey for her. And will probably deplete whatever money she has been able to save.

Kim is a very private individual and does not share her struggles with many. Her life has been full of challenges, but this will likely be her most difficult battle. She has shared with me as a friend and I feel compelled to help her if I can. She does not live nearby for me to visit and drive to appointments, so I am trying to help in another way. If you can spare any amount to help her, she will be very grateful. Even if you can only offer prayer, she very much believes in the power of faith and prayer.
