My name is Shania Kranz. Last week, my mom sat my sister Morgan and me down and told us that they had been going to some doctor visits with my older brother Ryan and that he might have cancer. Two days later, when I was about to go on a run with my team, my mom called to tell me the results. She told me that my brother had been diagnosed with oral cancer and it was stage 3. I remember falling to the ground in the middle of the school hallway feeling like my whole world was falling apart. This news has been incredibly hard on my myself, my family, and especially my brother. I want to be able to help my big brother in any way I can and this is the best way I know how to help him.

On February 4th, my brother Ryan was diagnosed with oral cancer. This Thursday, February 11th, he will be going into surgery to hopefully remove the tumour off of his tongue. After surgery, we hope that chemo or radiation will not be necessary, but only time will tell. There will be a long road to recovery.

Ryan has always been a hardworking and hilarious individual; he has the biggest heart out of anyone I know. Ryan has been an amazing brother to me and my two sisters, a great son, and a friend to many. He has been the best big brother I could ask for. This is my chance to try and help him out after everything he has done for me. This news has been really hard on everyone. After the surgery, we are hoping and praying to find him in a better spot than he is in now.

Ryan has never asked for anything, and is always doing for others. But, now is when he needs our help the most! After all the necessary medical procedures, Ryan will be overwhelmed with expensive medical bills, which will put him in a disadvantaged economic situation.
