Hi, my name is Rachael, and I am fundraising for a pair of CROS hearing aids for myself.

I have suffered from Single Side Deafness/Unilateral Hearing loss my whole life.

My hearing loss has affected me throughout my lifetime. It's difficult to interact in a world that isn't always accommodating for the hard of hearing. As I've grown older, I notice more of a struggle with hearing others around me talk, even at a normal frequency and have decided to start my journey with hearing aids!

Because of the uniqueness of my deafness, regular hearing aids will not work, as my nerves on my right ear are fully dead. The CROS hearing aids are made specifically for people with unilateral hearing loss, and work by enabling a transmitter on the non-hearing ear and a receiver on the hearing ear. The CROS hearing aids are a new form of technology that are changing the world for people with Single Side Deafness, but it also comes at a very high price, which is why I am relying on the kindness and graciousness of people like you!

These hearing aids will help me to not feel as isolated when talking around big crowds, loud music, quieter-talking people and so much more.

The involvement and inclusion that hearing aids would bring me would change my life. Hearing aids would give me the accessibility of navigating the world safely and independently.
