On May 27, 2020, Jason Robert Townsend passed away suddenly from a heart attack due to myocarditis complications. He was 38. He was a lifelong resident of Downsville, NY and a Correctional Officer at Sullivan Correctional Facility.
Jason was married to Claudia Cavallo Townsend and had two children, Giuliana, age 7 and Ciara, age 3. The son of Terry and Julie Barnes Townsend, and brother to Nic Townsend and Allison Emerich, he was born July 13, 1981 in Walton, NY.
Jason was an avid New York Sports Fan, he proudly supported the Yankees, Rangers, Giants, and Syracuse teams. He was a gamer and enjoyed fishing.
His family, friends and community love him and his family, and with the anguish and pain his death brings, also bring financial burdens.
We are raising money to help Claudia and their children with any costs incurred and to offer assistance wherever it is needed.

His survivors include his wife, Claudia Cavallo Townsend, at home; two daughters, Giuliana and Ciara; his parents, Terry and Julie Townsend of Downsville, NY; one brother, Nic Townsend of Downsville, NY; one sister, Allison Emerich and her husband Logan of Fishs Eddy, NY; nieces and nephews, Landon, Zach, Catherine and Mia; his maternal grandparents, William and Lena Barnes of Downsville, NY; his God parents, Robert and Sherry Becker; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; his mother-in-law, Anna Cavallo; two sisters-in-law, Maria Woltjen and her husband Peter and Anna Marsalise and her husband Anthony; one brother-in-law, Nick Cavallo; and his best friend, Brian Elmendorf and his wife Crissie.
