Help Alex Stay in School

My name is Hedi Rudd and I have the pleasure of working with Alex Booker at Rooted at Badger Rock Neighborhood Center.
Alex needs support in paying for his college expenses. He returned to Edgewood College to complete his bachelor’s degree in psychology. Alex initially returned with the understanding that his tuition would be fully covered with a scholarship earned after graduating high school. It wasn’t until it was almost time to start classes that he discovered he could not rejoin the scholarship program. He decided to continue and work on getting his scholarship back, but he has not had success. At this point, Alex cannot give his full attention to the classroom experience due to working full-time and farming to make his payments. Please help us reach our goal of $6,000 to cover his school expenses so he can focus on his education.
The Rooted at Badger Rock Team has enjoyed working with Alex since he was hired as the assistant farm and education manager. Alex helps to maintain the school farm and co-teaches the Badger Rock Middle School (BRMS) Garden class. Alex also leads the Badger Rock Youth Employees, a cohort of ten youths who manage the Badger Rock Farmstand, a part of the Badger Rock Community Market, and maintain the farm and harvest for future markets and classroom produce. Alex brings a tremendous energy to our work and is a great role model for the youth of BRMS.
When Alex is not at Badger Rock, he manages his small farm, where he grows herbs and vegetables that he sells to the local community. He also works with Pasture and Plenty, teaching Black Excellence Cooking classes for Madison Metropolitan School District students and families. Alex brings a lot to any space he enters and is a natural leader and voice for those suffering from mental health challenges or life in general. His spirit is infectious, he is a natural with youth, and he brings so much passion to all he does. Please help us to support him so he can focus on school and best prepare himself to give back to our community.
