4th Annual Christmas Bike Giveaway

Hello Friends and Community supporters!

I can’t believe it’s that time of year again – the Holiday Season. 2020 has been a strange year for all of us, and it still feels like we’re in April.

As most of you know Cap McIlnay started the annual bike giveaway tradition four years ago. As a way to celebrate Jesus's birth and to also give back to the children in our community.  Cap was a pillar in this community who was very active in reaching out to everyone while doing so much for Blackwell. As his friend and the FUMC Youth Director, I feel it is my honor to humbly continue his tradition of brightening the spirits of our local families. It’s our mission as humans to serve in society and bless all those around us. What better way to bless a child, than with a new bike!

Each year we have been able to grow the number of bicycles to 100 that we give away. Last year was a vast success. Children need bikes, and they outgrow them eventually and need bigger ones. Bicycles aren’t always a luxury for the children in this community, and when Cap began this project, he changed that.

When covid-19 began and our Governor issued the Safer-at-home order, it became an opportunity for the children in this community to become creative and find ways to keep themselves entertained. It brought back memories of being able to play outside without worries and ride to a friend’s house, without any problem, and enjoying the magical freedom that came with a bicycle ride.

“I was driving down the street at the beginning of the pandemic, and I noticed a young boy riding his bicycle. I couldn’t help but think that maybe he’s riding a bicycle because of the annual giveaway and community that supported my ministry, and it warmed my heart. Maybe even flared my allergies a bit.” – Cap McIlnay

I’m kindly asking for your support this year to continue what Cap began. My goal is to raise $7,000 for over 100 bikes. Let’s end this pandemic 2020 with a bang and bring smiles to all the faces of the kiddos in our community. With your generous support I know we can make this happen, covid-19 pandemic or not!

I am also proudly sponsoring with the VFW Post 2855, Blackwell OK and the Four King LE/MC North 40 Chapter.
