Taylor & Kristen Hurricane Florence

On Monday September 17, 2018 Taylor and Kristen received the above photo of their home taken by a rescue crew in the Chinquapin North Carolina area. Due to the uncertainty of hurricane Florence approaching, they had evacuated with their dogs on September 11th. Some minor damage may have been expected, but not that their home would be inundated by flood waters. Since the home was not located in a flood zone, they had no flood insurance, and have been informed the damage will not be covered by their homeowners policy. Taylor and Kristen purchased the home shortly before getting married in July 2018. The extent of the damage may not be known for days, or weeks, but almost everything they own was left behind. Both Taylor and Kristen are UNCW graduates, and 4th grade elementary school teachers in the surrounding area. Upon evacuating, they expressed their biggest concern for the welfare of their students, and were expecting to be able to return home once the storm passed. They even took a coworkers dog with them because the neighbor was not going to evacuate. Any help would be greatly appreciated in giving back to these two who have given so much to their students, friends, and community. Thank you so much to everyone who has reached out.
