Willie needs our help!

Hi, my name is Suse, and I'm a volunteer animal rescuer in Brooklyn.

Willie is a cat I’ve been seeing for 2 years, but he’s been incredibly elusive — often disappearing for weeks.

Willie always appeared sad and shut down, but he looked significantly worse in the last few months. His mouth was deteriorating, he was drooling, barely eating, lethargic, and he would have starved in this NYC winter.

To prevent this, I spent dozens of hours and several weeks tracking his moves around the neighborhood in an attempt to finally trap him. But Willie is very street smart, avoiding the traps more than any cat I’ve ever seen.

I got up at 4am many days in the hopes of getting him, and on Dec 14 I finally did! (I still can barely believe it, after all this time!)

Willie has all sorts of health issues, but they’re manageable — with the right care from me and a vet.

Willie has been staying with me, overcoming a respiratory infection, ulcers, lice, and general weakness. He’s doing so much better! He’s now also neutered, vaccinated, and dewormed — all the things he didn’t get during his years on the street!

The last piece of his care will be a dental extraction so he can finally eat with ease again. Please be a part of Willie’s healing. This boy has had a rough life, and he deserves to live out the rest of it as pain-free as possible.

The expenses so far have been approx. $600 for neuter, vaccines, treatments, a vet visit, full bloodwork, food, and transport. (This is with a generous rescuer discount.) Dental procedures usually cost at least $1,000. I’m hoping to keep the cost to this amount.
