Chewy's Road to Recovery

Rani and I were faced with one of the most difficult decisions we've ever had to make when Chewy’s health rapidly declined due to sepsis from a ruptured prostate cyst.

We were in a battle against time. We were in a battle between head and heart. We were hurting. Chewy was hurting.

Our decision? Euthanasia. We signed the papers.

As our baby lay there, heavily sedated in Rani’s arms, we prayed over him, I asked for a sign from God, from the Universe, from Chewy. I desperately needed to know if THIS was the right choice. I wanted so badly for Chewy to tell his mommies what he wanted.

And at that moment, Chewy opened his eyes! He looked up at us with so much life and light. He was determined! And with all the strength his little body could muster, Chewy tried to get up!

We knew, we couldn't give up on him without a fight and without giving him his best chance at life. If you know Chewy, he’s a fighter!

With minutes left and fire in our hearts. Rani & I agreed to follow through with the surgery.

We believe that every life, no matter how small, deserves a fighting chance. We couldn't bear the regret of losing the chance that Chewy could recover and we could continue our lives together along with his son, Charming!

__ Chewy is still at the vet but he is recovering well and trending towards being able to come home really soon (hopefully tomorrow!!). He is still feeling some pain in his abdomen but they are trying to ween him off his pain meds to a comfortable level. The biopsy results from his surgery showed no signs of cancer. He's going from 2 types of antibiotics to 1. So as long as he eats consistently until tomorrow and the pain decreases, we're hoping that we can bring our little guy home <3 The Doc says he's such a trooper for enduring such a nasty infection but he is fighting strong!
