My family and I have received some heartbreaking news. My 3-year-old niece, Olivia, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), which is a fast-growing cancer of the blood and bone marrow. It’s something you hear about and hope will never affect someone you love.
Liv is smart, playful, sassy, and one of the most loving little girls you’ll ever meet. Soon, she will face more than any child ever should—countless tests, procedures, and treatments as she begins her fight.
She has already needed blood and platelet transfusions just to get her numbers where treatment could begin. More tests have started, and a port has been placed in her chest in preparation for chemotherapy. She will receive her first treatments this week.
We are hopeful she’ll be able to come home from the hospital next week, but this journey is far from over. She will need weekly treatments, and twice a month she’ll undergo additional chemotherapy delivered to her spinal fluid to help prevent the leukemia from spreading.
The next two and a half years of treatment will not be easy, but Liv is already showing us the courage, strength, and resilience that will carry her through.
Courtney and Donny have been by her side every step of the way and will continue to be, even if it means putting everything else on the back burner. With Donny serving as Chief of the Yaphank Fire Department and Courtney as a dedicated Ladies Auxiliary member, they have always given so much to their community. Now, their focus needs to be entirely on caring for Liv while also supporting their 1-year-old son.
I created this for anyone who would like to donate or help in any way, so Courtney and Donny can focus on what truly matters right now—Liv’s care—without the added stress of financial burdens during this incredibly difficult time.
There has already been an overwhelming amount of love and support shown to our family, and we cannot thank you all enough for your kindness, prayers, and generosity.
