Elvis Needs Your Help!
Fiscaal aftrekbaar
I am trying to raise funds for our newest heartworm positive Pointer rescue-- Elvis (click here to see his Facebook recovery album). Elvis was left outside the city jail in a cage in Tompkinsville, KY a few weeks ago. The jail is sometimes used as the local humane society. He was in terrible shape, extremely thin and frightened. We worked for a few weeks to line up transport and in that time it was discovered that Elvis was infected with heartworms and he had a sore on his testicles.
The great folks in Kentucky got his vaccinations done and also got him started on heartworm slow kill. In between some nasty weather, and some plane electrical problems, Elvis was driven to Louisville, KY by volunteer Tylor and then flown to the Chicago suburbs by Captain David Tan.
His latest exam and bloodwork shows that Elvis is also fighting 3 tick borne diseases- Ehrlichia, Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain spotted fever. We got a closer look at his teeth- which are in terrible shape and Elvis also has an enlarged testicle besides a cyst. A chest x-ray also shows a slightly enlarged heart which is not surprising because of the heartworms. This poor dog has suffered some terrible neglect and it will takes months of TLC to help him get better.
As Dr. Rimkunas didn't rule out testicular cancer, I have his neuter and dental set up for March 18th and we could really use some donations to help with his ongoing medical care. Thankfully I have heartworm slow kill supplies on hand for the next year. We also have a benefactor helping with his initial bloodwork and chest x-rays, but we'll need to raise another $600 for his dental and neuter plus we have additional expenses from his medical care in Kentucky and the cost of his microchip and antibiotics for the next year.
We'd sure appreciate your help with a donation no matter what size to help this sweet special dog get the care he needs.
