Initially I was going to set up a crowdfunding page to raise money for a Ugandan documentary to be shot next year. I now find myself setting up one for a very different cause.
This page has been made on behalf of my husband (who has never been one to ask for any form of charity). He is an especially talented photographer, whom I believe can make a postive difference to the world through his work.

Earlier this week, a backpack containing photography equipment and computer was stolen from his work car in Cape Town, South Africa (where he currently resides).
ITEMS STOLEN:
- 1 x CANON EF 24-105mm lens (worth approx. AU$1,350)
- 1 x PENTAX 50mm lens (worth approx. AU$250)
- 1 x PENTAX 28mm lens (worth approx. AU$100)
- 1 x vintage SOLIGOR 135mm lens (worth approx. AU$65)
- 1 x MANFROTTO tripod w/head (worth approx. AU$240)
- 1 x TAMARAC camera bag (worth approx. AU$340)
- 1 x battery grip (worth approx. AU$95)
- 1 x flash (worth approx. AU$125)
- 1 x flash box (worth approx. AU$30)
- 2 x flash triggers (worth approx. AU$100)
- Various adaptor rings, filters, spare batteries etc.
PLUS
- 1 x 15” MacBook Pro plus extra hardware (worth approx. AU$3,500)
- Software such as Adobe Creative Suite/Final Cut/Lightroom (worth approx. AU$500)
In total, around AU$2700 worth of photographic equipment and AU$4000 worth of computer hardware & software required to work on the images, was stolen.
Unfortunately my husband is not, and in no time soon will be, in a financial position where he will be able to replace these items himself. None of these possessions were covered by insurance.
I, his devoted wife and biggest fan, implore you for a donation towards replacing this equipment - so that he can not only continue to share his unique eye with the rest of the world, but also enable us to recollect the essentials of our documentary making gear, so we can share the stories of people (and animals) who need help the most.
As a token of appreciation, for every AU$25 you donate, you are invited to receive a full resolution download of one of his photographs, with permission to reproduce it once for personal use (ie. canvas or paper print for your wall at home, t-shirt etc). If this is something you desire, a selection of options will be sent to you in a personal email.
