Fighting the Fight with Mike

Life changed for Mike and Kari on Monday, December 2, 2019.
It was found that Mike had a 2" circumference tumor on the left frontal lobe of his brain. Mike was hospitalized at UIC for 9 days prior to his surgery on Wednesday, December 11, 2019. The evening before surgery, Mike and Kari were married right in his hospital room with loved ones by their side.
On Friday, December 20, 2019, they received the devastating news that Mike was diagnosed with Grade IV, Glioblastoma, a very aggressive form of cancer.
With the care, treatments and doctor visits that have now entered the lives of Mike and Kari, they are working around the clock to keep Mike in good health and adapt to these dramatic life changes. With this adjustment, Kari is no longer employed -- only casting an unforeseen financial burden.
It goes without saying, Mike and Kari have touched the lives of many of us in so many ways. They of all people deserve the joy, love, and happiness this world has to offer. If you are able to contribute to help them in any way, please do so through this page. In addition, a Poker Night fundraising event will be organized in the coming weeks/months -- details to be determined.
