Bringing Hope and Healing to Zambia

Donation protected
Hello family and friends!

My  name is Kelsie Kinden and I am a senior in college, about to graduate with my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. My heart and biggest passion in life is to help others achieve mental health through overcoming difficult life experiences and mental disorders. This is close to my heart as I have struggled with anxiety and other issues in my life due to my time in the military.

God recently gave me an AMAZING opportunity to travel to Zambia and train chaplains and medical workers on different mental disorders and therapy techniques. It is normal for Zambians to lose 5 family members a month to disease and poverty! Even though there have been some advances with medical help, there are almost NO resources for people to get help for their mental trauma-no one to reassure them of their value and purpose, and no one to help them grieve the loss of their family and friends.

This trip will include training the chaplains and medical workers on common disorders in Zambia which include: Depression, Schitzophrenia and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. We will be teaching about the causes of them, the biological effects they have and the different therapy techniques that are affective in treating each disorder. Also, training will be done on treating alocholism and suicide prevention.

We will be doing hands-on counseling with women with cancer, orphans and the house moms who run the orphanages. Other training will include screening the orphans for learning disabilities and behavioral disorders. This will dramatically change the health of the kids and the stressed and depressed house moms. The best part of this trip will be sharing the hope of the Gospel with every person we have the pleasure of meeting. God has dramatically changed my life-giving me unconditional love, purpose, identity and eternal life. I am beyond excited to give that same hope to the people of Zambia.

I always have a hard time asking for help, especially with finances, but the truth is that even though I've travelled the world for the Navy, experience and missions trips, I know this trip is going to top them all because we're not just passing out food which is here today, gone tomorrow. We are planting seeds of hope that will continue to grow and be passed on generation to generation. Because I know this, it would be selfish of me NOT to ask you to join me on this journey.

This trip will be 4 weeks and will cost $4,000. This will include travel, living accomodations, food and supplies. It will also help pay for my bills that I will need to cover while I am gone. My trip is coming up very quickly! I graduate college May 7th and head out to Zambia  4 days later on May 11th! I can't express the gratitude I have for your generous contributions.

If you help make this happen, not only are you blessing me tremendously, but you get to be a part of delivering hope to the people of Zambia. You will help drop the suicide rate and increase the mental health and joy of these beautiful men, women and children. Overall, you will be giving LIFE.

Thank you SO much and God bless you!

2 Corinthians 1:3-4: "Blessed be God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble by the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God."
