Support Mia's Battle Against Brain Cancer
Donation protected
Friends, Family, and generous donors,
Life doesn’t always happen the way we expect. On January 5, 2025 - following months of double vision and painful headaches - at the young age of 24, Mia had a seizure and collapsed during church service. After rushing to St. Joseph's Hospital, doctors found an enlarged tumor pressing on the stem of her brain. After 5 days in the hospital and 2 surgeries, Mia was diagnosed with a grade 4 diffuse midline brainstem glioma with H3K27M alteration. This type of tumor is an aggressive brain cancer that is inoperable due to its location with a poor to grim prognosis.
In response to this heavy and distressing news, Mia turned to family, prayer, and communion for peace and wisdom before taking her next steps. After numerous medical, holistic, and naturopathic appointments and opinions, the decision to avoid chemotherapy and radiation was not made lightly. Due to the location and intensity of this tumor, side effects are copious, unforgiving, and seemingly unavoidable. In an attempt to bypass stroke, seizures, destruction of fertility, permanent neurological damage leading to the loss of cognition, breath, and bodily function, Mia has made the difficult decision to pursue alternative care with Sunridge Medical (https://sunridgemedical.com).
“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it." Matthew 7:13 (NLV)
The next season for Mia involves intensive IV treatments multiple times each week where she will take in concentrated doses of nutrients and regular immune therapy sessions in an attempt to disrupt the growth of the tumor while strengthening Mia's ability to recover. In addition, Mia will have regular Red Light Therapy and Liver Cleanse therapy at home. These treatments are recommended for 40 weeks, during which Mia is not permitted to work due to the extreme commitment and fatigue she will experience during recovery. We are grateful that Mia found peace in a treatment plan that she feels confident in as well as a treatment designed to HEAL and CURE her body, rather than diminish the cancer into remission.
As Mia begins this next season of her life, we are also overwhelmed by the financial goal ahead of us. This aggressive approach to healing costs approximately $10,000 per week and unfortunately, insurance companies WILL NOT cover this treatment so we are humbly asking each of you for your prayers, encouragement, and financial help funding Mia's fight against cancer.
Any donation, no matter the size, will make a difference in supporting Mia and her family through this incredibly difficult time of healing... and even in the seemingly dark seasons of our lives, our loving God, our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ, and our Paraclete the Holy Spirit provide light as Mia is celebrating her recent engagement to Parker and we look forward to a blessed marriage long in years, filled with joy and children!
"For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT)
