Replace Stolen Tools
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Sean Billante. I have a small electrical business in Southern California. My work van was broken in to, in the parking lot of Home Depot, on Thursday Oct 12th. I was in the store about 10 minutes, but it was long enough for the thieves to get away with almost $5000 worth of tools. Tools that I need to make a living. Insurance will only cover about $1200 of the loss, due to "depreciation" and my $1000 deductible. So it will be over $4000 out of pocket for me to replace everything that was stolen. I can't work without most of these tools. And I don't have the finances to replace all of them this time. My van was robbed a year ago. That was to a lesser extent, but it still cost me almost $2000 to replace what was lost then. A year later, I'm back in the same position. With inflation the way it is now, it's tougher than it's ever been to make a profit. To have to divert so much of that profit to replacing all of these stolen tools is hard to swallow.
I had to create an itemized list for the police report, and it was difficult write down all that's been lost, and the prices, without getting both angry and sad.
I know everyone is struggling now, but any help would be appreciated. Thanks for reading my post.
