HELP ME ACHIEVE MY DREAMS!!
Hi my name is Caroline and I am a student from Rwanda. It has been my dream since I was a little girl to study in the US, so I came to the US to pursue my undergraduate degree in Public Health. Eventually, I want to go to medical school so I can be a doctor and help the Rwandan community. I grew up in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda. I was raised by a single mom and I am the oldest so I took care of my younger sister a lot. I worked in a women’s cooperative, as a tour guide for two years. This cooperative was started to help single women traumatized by the Rwandan genocide by helping them to empower themselves and be self sustainable.
I decided I wanted to go to the US to get the best possible education so that after getting my degree, I can go back and help people in my home country. Completing a degree from one of the world’s best higher education systems will distinguish me from my peers back home with similar backgrounds and career experiences. Interacting with a diverse range of people while studying in the US will enhance my ability to interact with people from other cultures and analyse issues from a global perspective.
Right now, I want to improve my English skills so that I can be a competitive student when I begin my academic program. For this reason, this semester I am taking an English language course at a community college in the Bay Area. The tuition cost for this program is $3,000 with an additional $900 for health insurance. Once I begin my academic program in summer, my tuition per year will be $8,300 and my health insurance will cost $2,200. My immediate goal is to raise $3,900 for my English program, however in total for the rest of this school year and next year, I will need $14,400. As an international student, I do not qualify for financial aid, I am not allowed to work on a student visa, and my mom no longer can help me with my studies as she has been unemployed for the last seven months due to COVID-19.
Any potential support I can find would be extremely appreciated and will be going toward my tuition. With your help, I can realize this dream that I have wanted my whole life: to study in the US and eventually become a doctor so I can help more people from my country. Thank you for your consideration and support.
BLESS YOU!!
