Update 01.05

Julia is making jokes! She drank lots of fluid yesterday and ate some food. She’s staying positive and so sweet. She had a blood transfusion last night to get her hemoglobin levels back to normal. This morning has been busy. Our main concern now is that her organs are all okay and pain control so she can move forward with PT. Pray for no internal bleeding and pain control. Joel and I are taking turns spending the night so we get rest. The nurses and doctors are amazing. We continue to be overwhelmed by everyone’s love and generosity.

Story:

Just weeks before her 13th birthday, Julia was skiing with her dad and brothers in Vermont when she veered off the trail and hit a tree. The accident left her with multiple internal injuries and broken bones, including both femurs, her knee ligaments, a broken arm, a broken rib, and trauma to multiple internal organs. Julia has already undergone two surgeries and faces a challenging recovery. She will most likely be airlifted home to the Hershey pediatric rehab hospital.

There are still many unknowns, but we are a strong, faith-filled community that is ready to help!

The financial impact of this accident is significant -- hospital bills, hotel stays in Vermont to be close to Julia during treatment, unforeseen recovery expenses, and time off work.

Julia will make a full recovery, but your support and help is needed during this difficulte time. We will be updating you all on her recovery along the way.
