Wishes for Wendi

It is with heavy hearts that as a Back 40 family, we are reaching out to our beloved local community to inform you that one of our dearest employees, Wendi “Tess” Richards, has very recently been diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer. The cancer has spread to her brain and spine, and Wendi is currently undergoing many tests and beginning treatments.

Wendi is an avid hiker, outdoors lover, enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 kids, and you’ll almost never see her without her dog by her side. She is known in the restaurant business throughout many local communities. You may know her as a General Manager from Takashi, a General Manager from Alpine House, or from owning her own restaurant, Moxie Wine Bistro. We’ve been privileged to have her as a wonderful server and part of our Back 40 family for the past 4 years.

Even with her recent diagnosis, medical bills are already adding up to over $100,000.00. Wendi’s specific route of treatment involves Chemo Pills that cost $10,000.00 a month alone, blood tests and C.T. Scans thus far are equaling over $20,000.00, and her Radiation Treatments starting next week are currently sitting at $80,000.00. With no insurance, we would like to do everything we can to help ease the financial stresses of the bills that are piling up quickly for Wendi and her family, and we are reaching out to our community for help.
