Hello my name is Ted Gedney and here is my story.
I am a widowed father of three teenagers, trying to raise them the best that I can. I need help. We have been beset with difficulties and I am at my wits end. My children are 17, 15 and 13. They have come a long way and are great kids, truely a joy to have in my life.
Over the last few years it has just become an insurmountable serfies of events that have brought me to this request for help. This is truely a request for a hand up and I am not doing this campaign for any other reason than I truely need help for myself and my children.
On February 29, 2012 my wife Ivy of 18 years passed away from a severe asthma attack in our home. This was a great emotional upset to the kids and me too. It has been rough for them especially. My daughter Yvette (the youngest 13) really misses her mother and is having many difficulties in her grieving process. The boys Hugh (17) and Alex (15) are having trouble as well, but are not as severly effected by this life changing event.
January 30, 2014, I awoke to what I can only describe as an elephant sitting on my chest during a "Widowmaker" heart attack. One artery had clogged 99% and the second on the leftside of my chest 98% in two places, After driving myself to the hospital, the medical team put me into a coma for seven days, My prognosis was poor and I was not expected to live. I was not a candidate for life saving surgery as I was not strong enough to undergo any procedure. I believe that God stepped in and made that surgery possible. I have had two stints inserted and walked out of the hospital 5 days later, slow but alive.
June 2014 I tried to return to work as an Eligibilty Worker for the County of San Bernardino where since 2007 I had been aiding people with their welfare benefits. But this was not to be. I spent my days on an Oxygen tank while experiencing anxiety attacks throughout the day. Due to my heart functioning at about 10% now I am forced due to doctor's orders to retire and am unable to work.
I have had to be admitted to the hospital on four occassions since the heart attack due to fluid build up in my lungs which is making it difficult for my damaged heart to function. I am worried that I may need to go back again as I am having the same symptoms as before.
My disability Insurance from work has been exhausted and I am in need. I am awaiting Social Security to determine my SSI (Social Security Insurance) and SSD (Social Security Disabillity) benefits.
This brings me to my transportation issues. My 1996 Chevy Truck blew an engine two years ago and has not been able to be repaired. My 1994 Jeep has a wide variety of problems which culminated last week with it loosing a tire which went sailing past me as I drove done the street. No one was hurt but this vehicle is beyond repair and to do so would only endanger my family as well as everyone else on the road.
The aid I am needing is to continue to pay for my rent expenses and to get me a reliable vehicle so that I can provide transportation to medical appointments and normal everyday life, for years to come. I will be extremely grateful for any help and need to keep my family functioning. I need to be healthy for my kids and to be able to be in their lives for as long as I can.
I will welcome all correspondence from you, my friends, so please feel free to do so.
Thank you, Ted
