On a whim, I sent Jennifer Pastiloff an email about her Girl Power "You are Enough" Workshop, which is this weekend in NYC. Not expecting a reply, within hours she responded and informed me that if we could get there. Kate would have a ticket.
"This is my email..... This is kinda crazy, since my daughter (Katelyn) and I are in Iowa. But more than anything in the world right now I can think of nothing more than how wonderful this would be for my daughter. She is 16 yrs old, she is struggling emotionally with who she is, where she fits in and what to do. Yesterday she begged me to stay home from school, because she was so sad, and couldn't face going. I know what she is feeling, but for either of us to put that into words and express it is unfathomable. You feel like you are going to explode because you don't know what to say besides I don't know, when someone asks what is wrong. I have lived most of my life this way and it is breaking my heart to watch my young beautiful, smart, caring and compassionate girl feel so broken. She is very guarded, allows very few people in, spend 90% of her days locked up in her room, because that is where she feel the most comfortable. ALONE. I cry as I write this because there is more, to her and to her story than to be confined to a 10x12 room, with here phone and netflix.

Now we are trying to raise the money for airfare and hotel. I have never seen my daughter so excited about an opportunity like this. And to meet Jen and learn to love herself.

I am not asking for me I am asking for the sake of my daughter and possible turning point in her life. Thank you so much in advance for helping her!!!
