Hi, I’m Alistair, and my 65 Roses Challenge is all about turning my love for basketball into hope for kids with Cystic Fibrosis (CF), like me.

CF is a genetic disorder affecting the lungs and digestive system. It causes thick, sticky mucus to clog airways and organs, leading to breathing issues, infections, and digestive problems. Currently there is no cure for CF, but research, including gene therapies, continues to explore potential cures.

Diagnosed at 6 months, I spent my early days in and out of hospitals, and even later, CF made sports tough—until a life-changing medication, Kaftrio (a breakthrough drug for some CF patients that improves lung function and reduces mucus buildup by fixing a faulty protein), was available to me from Aug 2024. Now I can run, shoot hoops, and live big! The Cystic Fibrosis Trust made that possible, so I’m shooting 65 free throws a day for 30 days, folding origami roses, and sharing the “65 Roses” story to raise GBP 1,100.
