Meet Rick Gorny, fun loving father of four and amazing husband of 39 years to My Beautiful Mother Cherie. Rick is a proud Grandfather of 12, and cherishes his family to the fullest. As a retired heating and cooling specialist him and his wife were thoroughly enjoying the "Good Life". Family BBQ's, Bon-Fires, hunting and fishing are just a few of his beloved past times.
As we had recently celebrated His 68th Birthday, low and behold the following days we learned from an MRI he had two significantly large Brain Tumors. Suddenly we had to make a major decision, brain surgery, which is all too scary in itself, or chemotherapy and radiation treatment. With the help of his close loved ones we decided to go with Surgery.
So in the waiting area at Munson Medical Center, 10 agonizing hours of fear and uncertainty, we learn that his Surgery went well. However the tumors are Astrocytoma, which means Cancer of the Brain. The neurologist had removed a very large portion of the one tumor and the other one is to risky to remove. The next step is going to be pinpoint radiation treatment. To hopefully slow the progress of these fast growing tumors. Now we aren't going to put and expiration date on my daddy, but we know our time is limited.
As most of you may know, Medicare only cover so much of his medical expenses. The usual household bills are continuing to roll in, as the medical bills are starting to pile up. One of my parents major concerns is, how are we going to pay for all this? As most average couples would struggle to even begin to pay for this ongoing treatment, this has become my parents reality.
We have high hopes in all the medical staff who has been very knowledgeable and helpful. We have faith in God to help comfort us and give us strength through this difficult battle. But most of all we believe that our love and support is going to be what makes this strong willed man conquer this terrible disease. My father wishes to take one last family camping trip this summer in the Upper Peninsula, as this was our favorite vacation spot throughout our lives.
Every little bit counts, anything you may be able to help with is so greatly appreciated. As we will reassure you, ALL money raised will be used for medical expenses for Rick. This alleviation will hopefully help us to make his final dream come true, and spend a long week, with the people he loves in a little place he calls paradise. Thank you for your consideration and support, we will keep you posted on his progress. God Bless!
