Evie’s journey

Hi everyone on Tuesday the 5th of July our world was turned upside down when our beautiful, kind and bubbly Evie was referred to emergency following a routine eye test for her glasses. The optometrist found a swollen optic nerve which is a sign of pressure on the nerves from something inside and around the brain. Further tests were done that evening with the doctors sending Evie for an MRI. It was post this that our family was given the devastating news that Evie had a tumour in her brain that was causing pressure around her brain and a build up of fluid around her brain and blocking spinal fluid from coming and going in and out of her skull.

All this 5 hours after a trip to the optometrist. Evie was then booked in for surgery the following day. Evie’s surgery was booked for 12 and was 4 hours in length with a successful surgery done by the surgeons at Queensland children's hospital. Now the hard work and time for her recovery begins, we would love to be able to take the time away from work to spend with Evie to help with her recovery. Evie may require speech therapy, physio recovery and a fair length of time on recovery. This is our reason for this post to help with Evie’s recovery and for her Mum to be able to take the time from work and allow us to focus on Evie’s recovery instead of the strains of finances.
