Hi! My name is Karla De Jesús, and I’m a third-year Computer Science major at Georgia Tech.

My platform supports the work of the American Diabetes Association, with a focus on raising awareness around diabetes-related complications in underserved communities. I was inspired to take on this initiative after losing my uncle to complications from a diabetic foot ulcer—an experience that made me realize just how important access to early intervention, education, and support really is. Rather than focusing on loss, I’ve chosen to channel that experience into purpose. Through my research in health technology and my passion for advocacy, I hope to help others get the care and resources they deserve. This platform allows me to honor my uncle’s memory while working toward a future where families—especially in Black and Latino communities—have the tools they need to manage chronic conditions and live full, healthy lives.
