About:
According to Melinda Gates “the solution to poverty is investing in women and girls”. That is the best idea in the world..
This project proposes to enhance the basic integrated education, health, social service and cultural programs for young girls in FGGC Onitsha -(All Girls School) in Onitsha, Anambra State, Nigeria and will serve approximately 2000 girls at the school.
Basic education for the young girls in developing Africa is the backbone of the community therefore it is viewed as a human right since education contributes to the reduction of both absolute and relative poverty.
Basic education, in particular, helps to alleviate poverty by helping poorer communities improve their lives. Girls with sound education contribute to raising healthier families and have a direct impact on educating the next generation.
FGGC Onitsha (All Girls School) is a public school of more than 2000 student ranging from 7th through 12 grade. More than 85% of the student are poor and the surrounding areas have no sustainable job opportunities for students.
The infrastructure, teaching aids and basic equipment available for learning are minimal and in most instances unavailable and the parents and teachers alike agree that more adequate and creative teaching methods are needed in school to stimulate learning.
Despite the challenges the school produced teacher who won a prestigious Teacher of the year award and recorded 100 % pass in Engish in two qualifying examinations and in the past three years ranked in the first percentile among all schools in South Eastern Nigeria. Therefore this project will contribute towards further excellence in these areas.
What I'm Raising Money For:
Recent visits confirmed by reports and request coming from parents and students at FGGC Onitsha (All Girls School) have requested help from us to assist with the task of fund raising for establishing educational infrastructure and the framework of basic education and buildings through the development program.
The objective of this project is twofold:
1. Provision of basic amenities for learning and proper nutrition.
2. The improvement of skills and foundational learning concepts for the students in the community.
Ifeoma Chinwuba Izuchukwu and family have taken up the challenge to facilitate the fund raising for the project that will offer education to the poor, disadvantaged students in the community where the government has failed to provide amenities and the support needed for proper learning environment.
Our mission is to ensure that all the girls at the school are taught a rigorous standard-based curriculum supported by highly qualified staff in an exemplary educational system. Characterized by high student achievement, social development. Safe environment and effective partnerships with all segments of the community to ensure that students are 21st century college and career ready.
In order for this to happen, we need your help to financially support the following:-
-Capacity building and effective learning Center for both students and teacher
Strengthening educational achievement and improving FGGC Onitsha-(All Girls School)
-Increasing educational expectations for all students and the community
-Construction of A Standard Kitchen equipped with modern cooking amenities
-Construction of latrines /toilets with water supply from underground Borehole.
-Recruitment of support staff for the learning center
-Supervision of the project running services by the Board members and Donors.
-Installation of project requirements.
Why You Should Give:
The all-girls school is in total disrepair and no Federal or State funding to support any kind of improvements. 85% of parents are poor and live on subsistent existence and cannot even help with their girl’s basic sanitary needs and provisions at school.
The FGGC Onitsha old students alumnae here in the US had an awesome fun time of fund rasing event during during their convention on July 30th, 2016 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Orange County, California. It was a blast and the support form the LA community and beyond are appreciated. But more resources are need to address the major need of the students and school.
The goal is to help close these gaps by raising hundreds of thousands of dollars to provide very basic supplies for the students, as well as the teachers.
We are struggling to provide even the most basic of materials -- especially new books and instructional materials and basic learning environment for the girls to learn. Please help us open our students' eyes to the world and to provide a safe adequate learning environment for the girls!
Your donation will help to build modern expanded learning facilities and provide opportunities for young girls in skill building, integrated education, health, social service, recreational and cultural programs
THANK YOU SO MUCH.
