Hello. My name is Lisa and I am a single mom of an amazing 11 year old son. I recently started and lost a new job. It was a dream job for a single mom. I received a sign-on bonus and I was able to drive my son to school every morning. My salary was more than I have ever made in my life. I started repairing my credit with a new car loan and small credit cards. In early February I caught Covid and was let go, out of the blue. They kept my final paycheck (their explanation was it was to repay my sign on bonus, which was never agreed to) and I have been just devastated. I filed a claim with the state Dept. Of Labor, but it can take up to 12 weeks to even begin the dispute process and 1-2 years to complete.

My son means everything to me and I have to find a way to make it through. The generosity of others has helped me avoid having my car repossessed and helped me be able to buy some food as I get back on track, but we are at a critical point now. I started a new job (thankfully) last week but won't receive my first paycheck for 2 weeks and I am down to my last $10. I need gas for my car & food for my son. I will not make it through without help. Please help us get through! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
