Help us send our award winning team to the world's premier space industry conference, the National Space Society's International Space Development Conference, Washington DC, 6-9 June ISDC2019 to showcase their work. We have a gifted bunch of talented, creative minds who are investing their time and energy, in considering solutions to problems which many of us can’t even grasp. Their enthusiasm and indomitable spirit is apparent when you consider the scope of the project they have conceived and given that most of them are 17 years of age, their achievement is remarkable. While many teenagers are focused on surfing the web these teenagers are pondering the future habitat of  mankind.

Our team of five senior Physics students, mentored by two St. Flannan's teachers  have won third prize in a major international competition, the  NASA Ames Space Settlement Design Contest 2019 (12th Grade, small team category). The team design of a 3-D printed Space Settlement for 10,000 people TerraStar, is to be placed close to Mars. For their work on TerraStar the team have been invited to participate at the  NSS  sponsored Space Conference, the International Space Development Conference, ISDC® 2019, which will be held in Washington DC, 6-9 June2019.

We are fundraising  for this year’s team trip to Washington DC. If any excess monies are collected they will be used to help fund future NASA Ames competition entries.

This is a great achievement for the Space Design team students of St. Flannan's College, Ennis, Co Clare, Ireland. They are incredibly excited about the prospect of attending the ISDC® 2019. Participation at the International space Development Conference  would allow the students to present their work on the international stage and to enhance and develop their knowledge and skills, in the presence of NASA /space industry scientists and like minded students from all over the world. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

St. Flannan’s College is a state funded second level school with students from a variety of socio- economic backgrounds. (This year, the NASA Ames Space Settlement Design competition received 2,691 entries from 12,899 students around the world)
