My name is Rob, I’m 61 years old, and I’ve been living on Social Security Disability (SSDI) for the past 10 years. Before my health declined, I worked as a computer technician — a career I loved and took pride in.

On October 2, 2025, I underwent a robotic radical prostatectomy after being diagnosed with prostate cancer (Gleason 3+4=7). The surgery went well — the margins and lymph nodes were clear — but recovery has been rough. I’m still dealing with pain, swelling, and strict lifting restrictions. I can’t yet carry groceries or do much physical work.

Unfortunately, while I’ve been recovering, my roommate and I fell behind on rent and utilities. The landlord has already filed for eviction, and our electric company (FPL) has issued a shut-off notice. With the Florida heat, losing air conditioning would be dangerous for me medically — swelling and complications increase dramatically without it.

Here’s what I’m trying to raise enough to cover:

I’ve attached proof of everything: the rent ledger and eviction notice, the FPL bill, and the first pages of my pathology report confirming the cancer diagnosis and surgery.

SSDI covers only the bare essentials, and this surgery wiped out the small savings I had. I’m doing everything I can to get back on my feet, but right now I need help just to stay housed and cool enough to finish healing safely.
