Support for Martha Vivas
Donation protected
I’m raising money to help relieve the burden and stress of our friend Martha Vivas and her family. We know Martha from Mi Tierra restaurant in Woodinville, WA. Martha has been working there for 18 years. She is always hard working, smiling and sweet. On March 31st this year she fell ill. A mass was found on her pancreas. The exact diagnosis has been a slow process. Her doctors plan, as of now, is to remove the tumor but before doing so a second biopsy has to be done to confirm whether the tumor is cancer or not. If the tumor is cancer they will start chemotherapy before they remove it. Her doctor attempted the second biopsy August 29th and unfortunately her stomach was so closed they could not do the biopsy. The doctors will attempt to do another biopsy in 5 weeks. Unfortunately, repeating the endoscopy and biopsy too close to the prior attempt puts Martha at risk of bleeding and can put her life at risk. The fact that many months have gone by now without a concrete diagnosis has been frustrating for her. Her insurance only covers 80%. She has not been able to work since late June. Martha's spirits have been positive and she is hoping to get back to work as soon as possible. Martha appreciates everyone's prayers. Any donations of any amount are greatly appreciated and all donations will go directly to Martha.
UPDATE: September 23, 2018
Hi I just wanted to give an update for everybody on Martha’s situation. Since Martha’s pancreas is not working properly her intestines are not processing her food. Basically her organs are not working properly. In the morning she will be admitted into the hospital. They are going to do a CT scan and also hopefully clean out her intestines. They will also feed her intravenously. She does not know if she will stay in the hospital for some time or if they will release her tomorrow. She has two more weeks to wait for the third attempt at a biopsy. I will keep everybody posted as I find out.
Thank you all for your kindness, generous support, prayers and sweet messages for Martha. She wants everyone to know that she is very touched. Below is a message from her.
Martha says “Thank you everyone for your support, for your prayers, flowers, good thoughts and economic help. I really appreciate it. God bless you. I miss all of you and I am very eager to go back to work and see you all.
