As my 60th birthday approaches, I've got my eyes set on acquiring a 16mm film copy of the Classic Bogart Bergman film Casablanca. Once purchased, I'll have a backyard screening of the film on or near my actual birthday this fall.

I've bid on a few auctions for 16 mm prints in the past couple years and have come up short every time. With a little bit of help selling virtual tickets to see the film in my backyard I'm hoping I can raise my bid on the next auction, which is in progress now.

The film itself I personally credit for being a catalyst towards me, starting a career in Film and Television 40+ years ago

I recall the first time, watching it, and hearing the classic lines that I already knew because they were part of our everyday lexicon; 'Here's looking at you, kid.', 'Play it, Sam!', 'Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks in to mine.', and so many more.

So, it's been a dream of mine for over 10 years probably to acquire a copy of the film and host an outdoor screening in my backyard. I've got the screen hanging on the side of the garage, the projector and enough popcorn for 50 people if need be.
