The Story
In the heart of Mérida, Mexico, a quiet revolution is happening. At AC Animal Evolution, over 450 dogs and 150 cats fight for survival every single day. These are animals pulled from the streets — abandoned, left in box's on the side of the road, sick, starving, and forgotten.
The reality is heartbreaking:
Silvia the guardian angel who has dedicated her life to this massive rescue shelter needs help now more then ever. She does not go home at night into a nice cozy bed, this is her home.. her life.
The Breaking Point
Caring for 600 animals every single day is no small task.
The strain on funds has forced painful layoffs, creating a huge detriment to the overall joy and care within the shelter.
Food: Hundreds of pounds of kibble vanish in a week, costing thousands of dollars.
Medicine: Vaccines, flea treatments, and emergency vet care pile up quickly — sick animals can’t wait.
Brutal Mérida Heat – soaring temperatures put animals at constant risk of dehydration, exhaustion, and heatstroke, making shade, clean water, and proper shelter an urgent necessity for survival.
Shelter: Repairs to broken enclosures, new enclosures to reduce the daily fighting, cleaning supplies, and electricity bills never stop. Half the property has no electricity from thieves stealing the wires.
Each month, these costs stretch the rescue past its limit, putting them into debt just to keep the doors open and the animals alive. Without outside help, it becomes a choice between paying bills or feeding the animals.
Adoptions are slow & the shelter is at capacity, leaving more and more animals on the streets fighting for survival with no where to go.
Right now, AC cannot take anymore animals while barely being able to keep up with the ones they already have. Without urgent support, hundreds of animals risk losing the only safe place they’ve ever known.
