60 days of insanity for More than Grandparents

More than Grandparents is an independent charity established to provide relief to Kinship families. A kinship family is when a child is being cared for by a relative because they cannot live with their birth parents. This is usually because the child has been neglected or abused and children's social services have stepped in and removed the child for safeguarding. However it can sometimes be because the child has suffered the death of a parent or because the parent has a mental health or learning difficulty and a relative has stepped in to support the birth parent by caring for the child. Usually it is the grandparents who step in to care for the child but not always. It can sometimes be an aunt, uncle, cousin, sibling or a family friend. In fact a kinship carer is any relative or connected person that steps in to ensure the child remains within its birth family and prevent the child being placed in the care system and subsequently adopted outside of the birth family. More than Grandparents aims to support kinship carers by informing them of their rights and entitlements to reduce the risk of a family becoming destitute. They provide 1-1 support, advice, guidance and advocacy, peer support and friendship, social and recreational activities to reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness for all the family.
More than grandparents relies solely on grant funding which is becoming increasingly harder to secure, to help raise funds for the charity.

Rob and I have decided to complete 60 days of insanity starting the 2nd Jan 2025.
