60 @ 60
Every few years I do something a little bit daft as a fundraiser on my birthday. On my 50th I did Tough Mudder, 55th I did the 3 Peak Challenge 3 times in 12 weeks, guiding a team on one run.
This July I am 60 and have had a recent new knee, so I’m going to do a fundraiser for a Charity of which I am a founder member….Almost Home Dog Rescue.
I have challenged myself to walk 60 kilometres on my 60th birthday …
60@60 by the Head Shit Shoveller!!!
Or 37.284 miles @ 60 but it doesn’t quite roll off the tongue as well!
I’ve started training and I am a long way from being fit and I suspect by the end I will be fit for nothing :-)
The walk will start at 4am on 27th July, from Almost Home Dog Rescue, I will then walk 5k loops around our village of Nercwys, passing the rescue on each loop. Depending on the weather I will be taking dogs with me on the loops… some in kennels and some previously adopted
Friends are also welcome to come and help drag me around the loops. The final 5k section will be from the rescue to the Glasfryn. The target is finishing with a Peroni by 18:00.
Almost Home Dog Rescue spend approximately £1000 per week on vets bills for new dogs and meds for our Forever Fosters. I am hoping to raise £1000 to cover that cost for a week. Also we have been trying to secure the long term future of AHDR by looking into the possibility of purchasing our own property belonging to the Charity….. more on this to follow as and when.
