Help Jeff & Brittany find a safe home for their growing family after being failed by their landlord & the system.

Hey friends,

I’m putting this out there on behalf of some people who mean the world to me. Jeff, Brittany, their two little girls and one more sweet bub on the way. They’ve been stuck in an absolutely awful situation for the past five months, and with a baby on the way, things have become urgent.

Back in early 2025, they moved a few hours away, excited to start fresh in a new town. New marriage, new job, new home. What was supposed to be a hopeful chapter has quickly turned into a nightmare.

The house they’re renting turned out to be completely unfit to live in. I’m not just talking about minor issues. it’s been officially declared “unsafe” by the town. Here’s just a bit of what they’ve been dealing with:

• No clean drinking water. Public Health actually stepped in and declared the well water unsafe.

• A failing septic system that’s been leaking sewage into the yard & well water.

• Their only toilet only flushes once a day.

• Water that smells like sewage coming from their sinks and shower.

• Their dog got sick from accidentally drinking the water.

• A landlord who refused to take them seriously until bylaw, Public Health, and even the fire department had to get involved.

The town has now told them they’re not even allowed to use the septic system at all.. meaning no toilet, no laundry, no showers. And still, the landlord is demanding full rent, offering no immediate help or alternative options. She diminishes their concerns and even when public health ordered her to immediately fix the septic, she downplayed it and told them not to leave as she will get it looked at before July 31. Who can go without basic utilities like this for a month let alone it being like this for the past FIVE months.

To make matters worse, Brittany is six months pregnant. She’s doing her best living there all day amongst the septic smell to care for their kids while Jeff works long hours and picks up as much overtime as he can to save for a move. But between first and last month’s rent, moving costs, (after just spending hundreds already in January) deposits, and legal fees to get out of this lease without being penalized. it’s just too much for one family to handle alone.

They’re now working with legal support to try and hold the landlord accountable for knowingly renting out a home in this condition. But in the meantime, they need help.

I know everyone has their own struggles right now, but if you’re in a position to give, even a few bucks.. it would mean the world to this family.

Donations will go toward:

• First and last month’s rent for a safe place to live

• Emergency moving costs

• Basic necessities (clean water, hygiene and cleaning supplies)

• Legal fees to protect their rights and future

Even if you can’t donate, sharing this helps so much. Getting the word out could connect them with people who can help them finally get out of this situation and into a place where they can breathe again.
