Liz's Recovery

Hello,

I'm speaking on behalf of all of Liz's loved ones. If you know Liz, you know laughter, love, and LIFE because those are the things she gives to everyone around her. The Liz we know and love is full of life. I do not know ANYONE, and I mean ANYONE, as hard-working as Liz. Her work ethic is truly unmatched. She worked numerous jobs at once because she loves to be independent and because she has a little one that relies on her. Liz is EVERYTHING to her son. Everything she does is for her son. That was until 2 weeks ago, when she experienced a near-death incident due to a senseless violent act in Houston, TX. The incident she was in has left her hospitalized for the last 2 weeks, away from her son, her home, and her life. Unfortunately, due to the severe injuries to her spine, she has no mobility in her lower body, and we do not know if and/or when she will be able to walk again. She is incredibly strong physically, mentally and spiritually, which keeps us all optimistic for a full recovery for her one day. Although she's making great progress, she has a long and extensive recovery ahead of her. And as we all know, along with a long recovery come significant medical expenses, housing expenses, travel expenses and day to day expenses for her son and family. She is currently not able to work, and her parents, who have been by her side since receiving the news, cannot work. And medical expenses will soon start to pile up. We are working with the medical team to get her care here in Chicago. But even then, an air transfer for her will be costly. Not only do we ask of you to please continue to keep her and her family very close in your hearts and in your prayers, but also to donate what you can to her and to her family so that her main focus is to heal and recover as fast possible because we all need her. The money raised will go towards to covering the medical bills in Houston, as she had to go under numerous surgeries from the wounds, she spent over a week in ICU. Also towards receiving the best therapy and care possible. Insurance will cover the minimum and the care she's receiving in Houston is out of her insurance's network and will sadly not be covered. If you know Liz, you know she puts everyone before herself. And the last thing we want is for her to be stressed about any financial burden for her loved ones. The funds will go to Maria Castillo, Liz’s mom who is now her full time caregiver. She will be responsible for Liz’s finances until she can take care of them herself. This will help her family and her son greatly. We appreciate everyone's concerns, thoughtful words, and prayers during these times of need. We send love and light to all of you and your loved ones.

Hablo de parte de los seres queridos de Liz. Si conoces a Liz, conoces la risa, el amor y la VIDA porque esas son las cosas que ella le da a todos los que la rodean. La Liz que conocemos y amamos está llena de vida. No conozco a NADIE, y me refiero a NADIE, tan trabajadora como Liz. Su ética de trabajo es verdaderamente inigualable. Trabaja en numerosos trabajos a la vez porque le encanta ser independiente y porque tiene un pequeño que depende en ella. Liz lo es TODO para su hijo, Eli. Todo lo que hace es por su hijo. Eso fue hasta hace 2 semanas, cuando fue victima de un incidente debido a un acto violento sin sentido en Houston, TX. El incidente en el que se encontraba la ha dejado hospitalizada durante las últimas 2 semanas, lejos de su hijo, su hogar y su vida. Desafortunadamente, debido a las graves heridas en la columna, no tiene movilidad en la parte inferior del cuerpo y no sabemos si podrá volver a caminar ni cuándo. Ella es increíblemente fuerte física, mental y espiritualmente, lo que nos mantiene a todos optimistas para una recuperación completa algún día. Aunque está progresando mucho, tiene una larga y extensa recuperación por delante. Y como todos sabemos, junto con una larga recuperación vienen gastos médicos significantes, gastos de viaje y gastos diarios para su hijo y su familia. Por ahora, no puede trabajar y sus padres, que han estado a su lado desde que recibieron la noticia, no pueden trabajar. Y los gastos médicos pronto comenzarán a acumularse. Estamos trabajando con el equipo médico para que la atiendan aquí en Chicago. Pero incluso entonces, un traslado aéreo medico para ella será costoso. No solo les pedimos que por favor continúen manteniéndola a ella y a su familia muy cerca en sus corazones y en sus oraciones, sino también que donen lo que puedan a ella y a su familia para que su enfoque principal sea sanar y recuperarse lo mas rápido posible, porque todos la necesitamos. El dinero recaudado se usara para cubrir las facturas médicas en Houston, ya que tuvo que someterse a numerosas cirugías por las heridas, pasó más de una semana en la UCI. También para recibir la mejor terapia y atención posible. Su seguro cubrirá el mínimo y la atención que recibe en Houston está fuera de la red de su seguro y lamentablemente no estará cubierta. Si conoces a Liz, sabes que pone a todos antes que a ella misma. Y lo último que queremos es que ella esté estresada por cualquier carga financiera para sus seres queridos.
